Rhythms & Strumming
There are so many rhythms and strumming patterns that show up in songs. It may seem like there are millions of different rhythms and combinations on how to strum those rhythms but it actually turns out that strum patterns in many different genres often use the same guidelines. Knowing and putting these guidelines to practice can help you figure out how to strum any rhythm you can see and/or hear. When learning about these guidelines, you'll find that they have an emphasis on tendencies people gravitate to when trying to play a rhythm efficiently and comfortably. Putting them into practice should make playing rhythms more comfortable and intuitive. The following links will take you to pages that will introduce you to basic note values in western music theory that will be combined to create rhythms.
